Second day. 17.01.2019

My day started very early. I thought I will be so tired so even sleeping until 10AM won’t be enough, but I woke up around 6:30AM and around 8 AM went downstairs so I can find the WiFi and let my roommates to sleep. There I found a girl who wasn’t sleeping as well and we decided to go to the beach. It was cloudy there and even raining a little bit, but when raining stopped we decided to take a walk. And then we went back to the hotel for the breakfast.

After the breakfast we went to see a truck where we have boxes with sand and eggs and we were told that mostly every day we will check if turtles are hatching. We were lucky and we got to see baby turtles😍

 

We have found all the turtles from the boxes and we put them in one cleaned box so later we could release them into the ocean. After that we had some free time and then we went for a lunch. During the lunch they told us some information about the work etc. Then after the lunch we had some free time to prepare for the work and around 7:30 PM we went to Puerto Vallarta in our workcamp. When we arrived we met some workers and first we supposed to have dinner and we started our way to the restaurant. After the dinner we went to check some nests and there were newborn baby turtles and for the first time we hade a chance to release them 😍 Before they gave us baby turtles we had to wash our hands with the sand, so in that case we won’t have any oils on our hands. We started to release them and it is the most amazing thing I have ever done😀 Then we went to the other side where we have a camp with everything needed to stay at night. After some time there we split up and half of group stayed at the camp and half of the group went back to the side where we were releasing baby turtles. After some time 3 of us and the camp worker went to patrol our side of the beach bike quad bike. That was so cool, but unfortunately we didn’t find any mother turtles nesting and then we came back to the camp. I thought as estonian I am used to the cold, but I was wrong😂 It was very cold at night and using the light jacket wasn’t enough for it. Then we spent few hours more there and around 5 AM it was time to go back to the hotel.
